Glagah Beach
A sandy valley which is wide will greet you when you arrive in Glagah Beach. This particular stretch gives you a chance for stretching your view around the place. When you stretch your view to the front, you will see such a long horizon in which the sky and the see meet up. Meanwhile, the beauty of the beach line will mesmerize your view when you switch to the east and west.
The beach and the long beach line also provides you some alternative locations to see the beauty of the beach view. Each location has some different views although they are located in the same area. At every location, you can enjoy the whole beauty without border, and there is no giant coral which blocks the view.
Glagah Beach located 40 kilometers away from Yogyakarta, or 15 kilometers away from Wates, Kulon Progo Resident (Kabupaten), the beach in which the brownish black sand exists, has such a stretch valley (dataran/permukaan) without any coral therefore visitors will be mesmerized by such a beautiful panorama and such a blue ocean as far as they see. The sound of the wave, the blow of the wind, and the dance of the coconut trees give such perfect collaboration in relaxing your mind.

Lagoon and Boat
Lagoon is formed because of the high tide which makes the sea water trapped on a big hole of the sand in that particular area therefore it forms an accumulation of water which seems to be like a like, this particular lagoon has its own attraction  toward some visitors since they do know that lagoon in Indonesian beaches is rare.
Enjoying such a relaxing and refreshing situation at Glagah Beach will not be complete if you miss dropping by boats area and going around to see the lagoon by boats. There are some boats which are run by motors in the area.
Besides going around by boats, you can also do some water sport, such as swimming or canoeing (mendayung). If you want to walk to the west, you will find an agro-tourism location which is managed by non-governmental organization. 


This particular agro-tourism provides canoes, gethek (flat mini boat made of bamboos and it is similar to kayak), and also bebek dayung (mini boat in a form of swan and it has pedals) for rent which such reasonable prices.




Agro-tourism
The most famous agro-tourism at Glagah Beach is Kusumo Wanadri agro-tourism which means ‘flower of forest’ literally. It is owned by a herbalist named Father Paulus Tribrata
Budiharjo, this particular spot provides plantation tourism. Dragon fruits and Rosella plantations are the main and most-wanted plants in this area beside other herbal plants such as keji beling, mahkota dewa, and many other plants. This place also provides such a herbal medication which is owned by Father Paulus as well and a stall which sells some products which made of dragon fruits and many other herbal plants.
If you are interested in trying dragon fruits you can buy in this area. Each kilogram of those dragon fruits is sold with some varied prices. Big and maroon dragon fruits are cost IDR 15, 000 - IDR 30,000 and for the small ones are cost IDR 10,000 - IDR 15,000.

If you are interested in the dragon fruit beds (bibit), you can also buy and it will cost you Rp 35.000,00 each bed.









You can have dragon fruits juice as well in that area and it will be cost you only IDR 2,000 per glass. Dragon fruit syrup is also one of the product which you can bring home for family as well which is cost IDR 25,000,00 - IDR 50,000




Dermaga
Dermaga was founded along the estuary of Serang Rivercan support the tourism at Glagah Beach. It is located 50 meters away from the entrance to the beach. It is a building provided with some shelters, sound system, and toilets as well. It provides the beginning of the view to the beach. As you all know that the beach is somehow special, it has a meeting point between the river and the ocean, and it provides such an amazing view along the estuary. Therefore some boats are also provided in this dermaga. If you are bored with the view of the road, you can enjoy your journey by the boats headed to the ocean or estuary rather than going by any other vehicle to see such a gorgeous view of the ocean. You can park your car around the dermaga and enjoy the rest of your journey to the ocean by boats. It will give you such a great experience.


Wave breaker
At some other beaches in Yogyakarta, wave breaker can only be found at glagah Beach. This particular wave breaker was founded with some purposes, such as:Avoiding the high tide , Stabilizing the estuary, and Avoiding the sedimentation along the river due to the narrowing of the estuary
Besides, this construction is also functioned as the development of the brackish water fishery

 Stupa
In Glagah, there is also a historical site that is The Stupa.  The stupa is one of the historical sites in Glagah Village. This is a bird-eye of the history of Glagah Village.  In 500 AD or in the 6th century there are some inhabitants in Glagah and they had been civilized as it was proved in Sidorejo (Sios) was found a cultural mark in a form of stupa. Based on the information of the experts in Dinas Purbakala Propinsi Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta mentioned that it was built in the 6th  century, this particular site was a central of the spread of Buddhism, however based on the local legend Sios is a kind of residency, during that time Adipati Sios (the recident/bupati) was asked to arrange a marriage with Adipati Loano but he disagree therefore Adipati Sios was attacked by the Resident of Sios himself.
When you see the historical remnants which exist in Padukuhan Sidorejo (Sios) there are many other remnants left:
1.      Copper (perunggu) Wisnu statue (It has been taken to Dinas Purbakala)
2.      Stones in the form of Lingga and Yoni
3.      Stones in a form of Lumpang and it looks like a gong
4.      Big sized stones which are spread around Padukuhan Sidorejo.
 
Daendels Street
Another historical site which exists in Glagah is Daendels Street. In order to head to the beach, this particular street is often passed by.
It was built when it was the Dutch colonialization under Herman Willem Daendels. This Daendels Street consists of two lines, the northern of Java (Anyer Panarukan) and southern Java (Yogyakarta-Cilacap) 117 kilometers passing by Mirit, Ambal, and Ayah Beach
Approximately 95 kilometers or 81% of the total length of southern Daendels Street is in the form of a long and straight street with a slight junction (tikungan). The wavy street can be found in Karang Bolong, Ayah Beach, and Srati since those places are hills and are dominated by the hills of coral (BATU GAMPING).
Started from Jogja headed to the west, the end of the east of this street is found in the border of Jogja and Central Java Province, that is in Kulon Progo or it is exactly in Temon. In this area, Daendels Street is 4 lanes straight and smooth street which has border few kilometers along the street. However, it turns out into 2 lanes smooth street which has no border and it is 10 kilometers long. Along this interval, you can drive the vehicle over 100kms/hour. Along this street there are mark lines but there is still a few traffic signs (LALU LINTAS).
